TUSA X-Pert II Dive Knife

A quality fixed blade knife is required gear for extreme surfcasting. I use the TUSA X-Pert II dive knife on the side of my right leg.

The lock on the sleeve keeps the knife secure while you are swimming to remote rocks or skishing. The release button is large enough so you can release the knife with gloves on.

The knife comes with a 420 stainless steel blade or a titanium blade. I chose the high carbon stainless steel blade because it keeps an edge better. The higher carbon in the stainless steel protects against corrosion. After each trip, I quickly break down the knife and rinse down the one piece blade.

A blunt point blade or a drop point blade is available. For extreme surfcasting, I use a drop point blade. Why? Just in case I need to make a point! 😉

A fixed blade knife with a bleeding sharp edge is useless if you cannot hold on to it. The smart engineers at Tusa did a great job designing an ergonomic handle for the TUSA X-Pert II knife.

If you need a knife for extreme surfcasting, pick up a TUSA X-Pert II knife with a high carbon stainless steel blade and drop point. Great knife at a price that will not break the bank. 😉

CTS Crew on Cape Cod Canal

The CTS Crew are on the Cape Cod Canal targeting striped bass this week. They have no shortage of rods. Fish beware! 😉

Fish360 CTS RH Custom Rods Crew

I have a custom S7 for skishing and an S8 for fishing the Cape Cod Canal. I have field tested these rods with a full range of lures. Bottom line, these rods excel in their respective applications. They cast wicked far and can tire out 50 lb plus fish without breaking a fiber. ;-).

Drop the CTS Crew a line on their Facebook page to demo an S7 and an S8 while there are fishing “The Ditch”. Before you buy your next rod, cast a CTS. Trust me! ;-).

AquaSkinz Finger Shield

Nine out of ten times, I use braided line when targeting saltwater and freshwater species. Why? I love the strength, sensitivity, and castability of braided line. When I use braided line on my spinning reels, I always use finger protection.

When fishing from a dry perch, I use the AquaSkinz Finger Shield. The finger of the shield has kevlar, which provides maximum protection during casting.  I need my index finder for typing. 😉

The AquaSkinz Finger Shield provides maximum protection without compromising dexterity and sensitivity. If you fish braided line on spinning gear, safe the tip of your index finger: use the AquaSkinz Finger Shield! ;-).

Plum Island Surfcasters Juniors’ Carp Fishing Trip ~ 2014

Each year, the Plum Island Surfcasters run a carp fishing trip for their Junior members. This annual event gives Junior members an opportunity to improve their casting and fish fighting skills.  A Junior member properly loading her rod for the first time is a sight to see!

This event is also a great way to introduce new lines, rigs and techniques.  During this year’s trip, some Junior members transitioned from monofilament line to braided line and fished boilies from the United Kingdom on hair rigs.

The Plum Island Surfcasters Junior members who attended this trip are now confident and ready for the upcoming surf fishing trips on Plum Island and Hampton. OMG.  Fish beware! 😉
